"Industrial development in the Haugesund region", or iutvikling, originated as a supplier development project initiated by Karmøy Local Authority and Hydro, to address the possible downscaling of operations at Hydro, Karmøy.

Today iutvikling, is a network of industrial companies who, to increase their competitiveness, cooperate on various development projects. It is iutvikling's responsibility to initiate and coordinate these projects for its members.

The iutvikling network consists of industrial manufacturing SMEs whose members deliver high quality products, primarily to the oil and gas, shipbuilding and processing industries.
